Let’s face it before the economic crisis we took it for granted there would be a roof over our heads and food on the table. Before the swine flu we never really thought about the fact God doesn’t have a refund policy so we better take care of our bodies.
We are the naracistic take it for granted generation. In the good old days you were told to save for a rainy day. These days banks will bend over backwards to make you spend money you don’t have. In the good old days hard work involved sweat, muscle and a smile. We are so dependent on technology to do it all for us now that if things break down our worlds fall apart.
We got lazy didn’t treat our bodies with respect and assumed medical miracles would always be there to save the day. And then along came the swine flu and suddenly we couldn’t take our health for granted anymore.
We take for granted governments are going to end wars and soldiers will be there to save us. And as Dr Phil would say “hows that working for us?” Governments don’t end wars people end wars. Anyone anywhere at anytime can make a different choice. But instead of adding our voice to those seeking peace we take it for granted Big Brother U.S.A will solve all our problems. Again hows that working for everyone involved not so much.
We take a whole heap of little things for granted as well:
We don’t say “I love you” because we take it for granted people know we care.
We don’t spend time with our children telling them what they are doing right. Then we take it for granted they will do the ‘right’ thing.
We don’t give to the poor, shelter the homeless, because of our own situation and our good fortune we take it for granted and think it will never happen to us.
Well guess what it is happening all around you and you can’t take things like money, health or people for granted anymore. Never before has the saying ‘count your blessings and be grateful for what you have been so relevant than today.’
Personally I think Mother Earth is giving us a clear message wake up and pay attention. I think the time for each link in the human chain to join in peace and work towards making a difference is now. Don’t take it for granted that someone else is going to solve the problems we face. Don’t assume the things you do don’t leave a footprint and contribute to what we are facing today.
Don’t take for granted your mortality treat your body well. Don’t take for granted those you love treat them with respect. Don’t take for granted your blessings be grateful for the things you have. And lastly tread lightly on Mother Earth like a dog with fleas she will try and get rid of those annoying humans if you don’t.
I spy with my third eye
